A 29-year-old man, Ikechukwu Alumona, diagnosed of brain tumour need about N3 million to undergo surgery.
Alumona was diagnosed of the disease at Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja, in January this year, but because he could not undergo the operation as a result of financial constraints, a situation that has made him partially blind.
According to the Consultant Neurologist and Spinal Surgeon at Cedercrest Hospital, Dr. Abiodun Ogungbo, Alumona had undergone the first stage of the operation at the hospital last Monday, but needed about N3 million for the second surgery.
“The operation was facilitated by the 12th Apostolic Catholic Church in Central Area, Abuja, Ogungbo said, and, on behalf of Alumona, solicited assistance of well-meaning Nigerians to help raise the amount by donating to the hospital or the church to help save Alumona’s life.
“This is vital to ensure his further care and a safe conclusion for this unfortunate young man,” he stressed.
It would be recalled that Ogungbo, a United Kingdom-trained neurosurgeon, in January this year, successfully removed an orange-sized brain tumour from Mr Namiji Thompson Dzasu, a 70-year-old ex-banker from Adamawa state. He had also successfully performed over 20 of the operations since he returned to the country in 2009.
