Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state has sworn in Mrs. Abimbola Ibironke Akeredolu, who becomes the first female Attorney General (AG), also sworn-in was Mrs. Patricia Funmilola Oduniyi as
Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony attended by the Chief Judge of
Ogun State, Justice Olatokunbo Olopade and immediate past Attorney
General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Wemimo Ogunde (SAN), at the
Governor’s Office in Abeokuta.
In the words of the governor, he said:
“We must ensure that the confidence reposed in us by the electorate is not misplaced,” he said.
The new Attorney General who also doubles as the Commissioner for
Justice, Mrs. Akeredolu, was born in 1964, with degrees and
certificates from the University of Lagos as well as institutions in
France and Italy.
Her appointment brings the number of women in the Cabinet of Ogun
State to 12, thus making the state the most gender-friendly in the
country.
Mrs Patricia Funmilola Oduniyi graduated from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1983 and was until now the Director of Public Prosecutions in the Ministry of Justice.
