CHELSEA FC's IVANOVIC TOO!...ESCAPES COMMUNITY SHIELD RED CARD BAN!

Ivanovic sees RED against Manchester city - shield cup 2012
Chelsea FC's Serbian player Ivanovic was sent off by referee Kevin Friend near end of the first half of the blues community shield feature against premier league champions ManchesterCity, a decision which was decisive for the London side as they were already leading 1-0 before the card. The Serbian had caught fellow countryman Aleksandar Kolarov with a high tackle which the referee deemed worthy of a straight red card.

It was thought Ivanovic would be banned for three matches, starting with Chelsea's opening league fixture at Wigan.

However, it now appears the FA changed their rules citing an incident during an Amsterdam Tournament in 2006, when Manchester United pair Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney were both sent off and ended up serving three-match bans.

As the rule change covered all non-competitive pre-season fixtures, including the Community Shield, it means Ivanovic will be free to play at the DW Stadium.
Will this be a consolation for the Blues?
