Border dispute at Otukpo area of Benue state in Nigeria has left four people dead and properties worth millions of Nigeria have also been destroyed. The police's moved in to restore normalcy, but for how long will border disputes lead to lose of lives in the country?
Before this crisis, Okada riders (commercial motorcyclists) in Otukpo had beaten up the Otukpo High Court judge. Justice Ogbogo Ejembi of the Otukpo High Court it was gathered had earlier on overlooked one of the okadas who hit him from the back. However, trouble started when the Okadas followed him up to beat him up for no reason.
Eye witness account says,
“the Okada rider, Agbo Athanasius, hit the High Court judge’s vehicle after the traffic warden on duty had stopped the judge and granted him the right of way”

Also the eye witness also added that after Justice Ejembi was allowed to cross traffic after having being stopped by the traffic policeman on duty, four commercial motor-cyclists went after him, caught up with him, and beat him mercilessly.
”It took the intervention of passersby who apprehended the four cyclists and the traffic warden and handed them over to the police to save the judge.”
The Okada riders who assaulted the hogh court judge are Zuzuli Emmanuel, Adam Anthony and Barnabas Agbaka. The case will commence at a Makurdi Chief Magistrate Court, presided over by Mrs.Theresa Wergba.
The accused persons had pleaded guilty to the various charges leveled against them.
Inspector James Terzungwe, the Prosecuting officer had pleaded with the court to adjourn the case until investigation had been completed on the matter.
Why Okada riders will take laws into their hands remains a mystery..
