Killers of Sheik Albani on the 1st of February 2014, after a preaching session at Markaz Salafiyya Centre in Zaria have been paraded in Abuja by the Department of State Service, DSS for the assassination of Islamic scholar, his wife and son. The gang waited for him to finish preaching before attacking his vehicle while he left the premises. They shot at him several times, shot at his wife and killed his son too. Other occupants of the car also sustained various injuries, but it was obvious it was an assassination as they made straight for his family. The seven suspected killers confessed to the crime and hinted that they decided to assassinate the Islamic scholar because he revealed the secret of their activities to the state government, exposing them as members of the Boko Haram.
