NIGERIAN FEMALE HAJJ PILGRIMS WERE DETAINED IN SAUDI ARABIA FOR NOT COMING WITH MALE COMPANIONS

Nigeria's female Hajj pilgrims(398) were detained in Saudi Arabia between thursday and monday at the King AbdulAziz airport in Jedda, Saudi Arabia for not coming to the holy land with male companions

Uba mana, Nigeria's spokesman said an agreement between the countries exempts Nigerian women from requiring a male relative to escort them during the Hajj pilgrimage, which costs about $4,000 per person.

They were all later allowed to perform the Hajj on monday, after diplomatic intervention.
