After Rihanna accidentally broke his phone at Game 3 between LA Clippers and Okhlahoma City Thunders, Soboroff saw Rihanna again at Game 4 and asked if she would sign the cracked selfie phone so he could auction it off to raise funds for LAPD's cadet program and the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation, to support the families of fallen officers, so she did and wrote, "Sorry! I ♥ LAPD. Rihanna."
