An author who has put the name of Nigeria in the literary world, dropped a new one this year ... and we are rest assured that after Professor Chinua Achebe (late) and the likes of Professor Wole Soyinka are gone she would represent Nigeria well globally.
Femi Anikulapo Kuti
First son of Afro-Beat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Femi is one of the few Nigerians that have been nominated for grammy awards - is currently a nominee. He has been consistently representig Nigeria well in the global music circle.
Golden Eaglets
This team won the 2013 under-17 world cup and members of the team were voted as performers at the worldwide event.
Coach Stephen Keshi
Keshi did the impossible, after inheriting a super eagles that couldn't even qualify for the African nations cup, Keshi rebuilt the team with new faces and a few old ones and today the team did not just qualify for the nations cup, but won it and also qualified for the world cup!
Governor Rotimi Amaechi
The man in the eye of the storm... the embattled chairman of the governor's forum has been under various executive fires from the presidency and his erstwhile party, PDP, but the 48-year-old has weathered the storm and has remained the governor and also successfully crossed to another party - the APC.
Akinwunmi Adeshina
He emerged Forbes "African of the Year 2013", Adesina helped reform Nigeria’s agriculture sector, resulting in the empowerment of more than six million farmers across Nigeria, defeated four other nominees for the continent-wide prize.
The Joint Task Force
Men and women of the armed forces have been persistently and courageously battling the terrorist group, Boko Haram in the North east, even while recording huge casualties they have not relented and they are the reason we had a successful christmas celebration unlike previous years.
Civilian Joitn Task Force
These are the young men of the North east assisting the JTF to battle Boko Haram in their region. Despite like of weapons of warfare they face the terrorist head-on and they are part of the reason there is progress even if little is made in the fight against terrorism.
Late Professor Chinua Achebe
The Professor who while alive consistently pushed for a better Nigeria, until his death was the most influential African alive and before his death he released his final book "There was a country", which generated a lot of controversies, but one can not take away from it that it threw more light on the civil war Nigeria experienced between 1967 and 1970.
The "Person of the Year 2013" will be announced on the 30th of December, 2013.
