A young Chinese couple, Mr Teng and Miss Zhang are facing many years in jail after allegedly selling their weeks old daughter for 50,000 yuan (around 1.3 million naira) to buy an iPad, iPhone and others.
They anonymously advertised in newspapers offering their baby for cash (stock image, left). Having received the money, which was deposited in their bank account, the couple went out on a spending spree, using part of the proceeds to buy an iPhone.
