ALUU 4: UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT DECLARES 7-DAYS MOURNING...




The UNIVERSITY of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has declared seven days of mourning for three of its students Biringa Lordson (Year two Theatre Arts); Ugonna Obuzor (year two Geology) and Mike Toku ( year two civil Engineering) killed by irate mobs at Omokere-Aluu community, on Friday, october 5 2012.
The Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Joseph Ajienka, described the killing of the students as a horrendous crime...he stressed that the university would not tolerate any act of jungle justice, he commiserated with the bereaved families...and stated that the university's students’ union week, which was to have commenced yesterday, has been suspended in honour of the deceased students and also declared seven days mourning period, which would end on Sunday October 14th 2012.
The fourth victim tekena Erikena has so far not been confirmed as a student of the institution. 
The Vice Chancellor called on security operatives to fish out those behind the killings.
The residents of the Aluu community who were seen to be relocating from the community in droves who spoke under anonymity said they've been living at the mercy of armed robbers in the last six months.
