Casualty figures continue to be on the rise as multiple explosions rocked
Ajilari Railway Cross and Bintu Sugar suburbs of Maiduguri, the Borno
state capital between 7;38pm and 8pm last night.
National and International Humanitarian agencies that
participated in the evacuation of the victims put the death toll to over 60 as many of the
injured victims could not make it as they died while receiving treatment
this morning. Over 90 are reportedly injured and receiving treatment.
The explosions occurred at a popular telecommunication service point
where many people gather to buy/sale GSM recharge cards and other petty
businesses.
Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani
Kukasheka Usman in an interview with Journalists confirmed the multiple
blasts but insisted that the number of casualties is yet to be
ascertained.
