According to the Federal Ministry Of Information (Nigeria), Nigerian Billionaire, Philanthropist, Aliko Dangote's Dangote Foundation's given out 270 Million Naira in the form of Micro-Credit to 27,000 women in Jigawa State, Nigeria.

About 27, 000 women in Jigawa State
have benefitted from the 270 Million Naira micro-credit grant provided
by Dangote Foundation.
At the disbursement held at the Local Government Secretariat, Dutse,
the Commissioner in the Ministry of Economic Empowerment, Alhaji Rabiu
Isah Taura said that the grant which came from Dangote Foundation was a
gesture meant to complement the efforts of the Jigawa State’s Government
in reducing poverty to the barest minimum, especially amongst women.
Alhaji Rabiu Isah Taura also said, Jigawa State Government has
introduced a lot of programs which included the social security policy,
free health care for women and children, free education for girls, the
talakawa summit grant among others.
He added that these interventions and other programs by the State
Government were what inspired the Dangote Foundation to donate the sum
of N270 Million to support Jigawa State Government’s efforts in poverty
eradication.
The Commissioner also said that the grant, which is meant to support
women across the 27 local Governments in the State, would be channeled
through the inter-Ministerial State Committee made up of Officers from
Ministries of Economic Empowerment, Women Affairs and Social
Development, Local Government and the Directorate of Budget and Economic
Planning. He also disclosed that the Committee will ensure a
transparent, broad and flexible mechanism through which stakeholders can
participate and ensure government’s timely response to its people.
The Commissioner also revealed that the micro-grant donated by the
Dangote Foundation was the second of such interventions in Jigawa State,
the first being N107 Million grant to over 10,000 testifiers during the
Talakawa Summit organized by the Jigawa State Government in 2009.
The beneficiaries expressed their appreciations and commended the
Dangote Foundation for the gesture and promised to utilize the money
judiciously to improve their trades.
