COURT FINES 39 YEAR OLD MAN WHO RAPED A 5 YEAR OLD 80,000NAIRA FINE OR FIVE YEARS IMPRISONMENT! WTF?!

Adams Oshiomole - Governor of Edo state

A 39 year old man, Mr Saturday Udoh, 39, has been sentenced by a Magistrates’ Court in Benin on Wednesday to five years imprisonment with an option of N80, 000 fine for defiling a five-year-old girl.

Delivering judgement, Chief Magistrate Mike Osayi held that the prosecution, led by Sergeant Shaibu Mohammed, proved its case of defilement against the convict as required by law.

The prosecution had told the court that Udoh committed the offence on May 31, at Falodun Country Home Motel, Benin, and that the one-count charge contravened Section 218 of the criminal code.

The court held that the evidence of the convict that he went to collect money from somebody at the house opposite where he worked when the incident happened was untrue.

The court also faulted the witnesses called by the convict, noting that their testimonies were conflicting.

The court further held that the proximity between the convict’s residence and his office could not rule out the possibility of the convict dashing home to commit the offence and returning to work.

The court also held that there was identification parade conducted in the house and the little girl pointed at the convict as being responsible for her defilement.

Osayi described the victim as intelligent due to her evidence in court as well as the manner she responded to questions put to her by the court during cross examination.

Consequently, the court found Udoh guilty and sentenced him accordingly to what the law stipulates.
But 80,000 naira or five years for defiling a 5year old? What the Fuck!?

SSS (STATE SECURITY SERVICE) RELEASE OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON RUMOURED ATTEMPT TO BLOW UP ARIK AIR FLIGHT FROM MAIDUGURI

This is a brief highlight of the incident that occurred on the Arik Air flight from Maiduguri to Abuja yesterday.

On Friday, 19th October, 2012, Wife of the SSG to the Borno State Government, Hajia Yachilla JIDDA, travelled to Maiduguri in company of one Aminu S. GALADIMA, an interior decorator based in Abuja to do some interior decoration work.

On arrival in Maiduguri, he was lodged at Greenland Hotel. During the course of his stay, he exhibited unusual behaviour by smashing a window, and ended up with lacerations on his hands.

The SSG was contacted, and in collaboration with the Hotel management, subject was taken to Atal Hospital, also in Maiduguri, where he received treatment.

His family in Abuja was contacted and they gave confirmation that GALADIMA has been mentally unstable.

In addition, his elder brother who lives in the UK was contacted and he requested that subject be returned to Abuja for medical attention.

On Sunday, 21st October, 2012, he was taken to the airport to be returned to Abuja, but missed the flight.

However, the Airport management was informed of his state of health, and they advised that whenever his return is scheduled, the management should be notified.

Unfortunately, when GALADIMA was taken to the Airport on 23rd October for his return trip, the management of the Airport was not informed, and 10 minutes into the flight, due to slight turbulence, his condition was triggered off.

Meanwhile, GALADIMA is in the custody of security forces.

This clarification has become necessary to dispel the unfounded rumours concerning the flight.
