Wednesday 50 year old Pastor Gordon Solomon A local spiritual leader shocked and devastated his congregation when he was arrested for allegedly engaging in a two-year sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

The Police said:

The relationship between Gordon Solomon, pastor at Christ's Community Church of LA in Inglewood, Calif., and his young congregant began when the girl was only 12 years old.

He was alleged to have "developed an ongoing affinity" for the girl, which involved exchanging emails and texts of a "sexual nature" and meeting at various locations, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

He met his waterloo when the young girl's mother discovered one of the explicit text messages from Solomon and immediately called the police. Investigators then determined that the relationship had been going on for two years by tracing back the sexting messages on the girl's phone.

The minister has been charged Friday with seven felony counts of committing a lewd act on a child, one felony count of oral copulation of a person under the age of 14 and one felony count of continuous sexual abuse, the District Attorney announced.

If convicted as charged, Solomon who is currently in jail on $3 million bail, faces a maximum sentence of 26 years and eight month in state prison, the District Attorney says. He is expected to make his initial court appearance Friday at the Inglewood Courthouse.

Why a happily married man with a beautiful family would do this kind of act remains a mystery.

WHY INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE DOES NOT WANT STATE POLICE

Nigeria's Acting Inspector general of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), said Nigeria is not yet ripe for state police in spite of the renewed agitations for it.
 
Speaking with newsmen in Kaduna shortly after a meeting with Kaduna stakeholders on security, the acting IGP dismissed the clamour for the establishment of state police, in his words, 
“You could imagine if we have a political situation, if you have a state commissioner of police controlled by the state itself”.


“What we are trying to do is going back to the drawing board, I won’t tell you what I’m doing in terms of training and strategies and methodology of fighting crime and that is why we have to come out to see things for ourselves and be able to re-plan ahead of time.

“We are doing so much and there are differences even in changing of tactics, unlike before. We are doing so much now, particularly on intelligence information. Let me also thank Nigerians in this regard because we have seen serious level of improvement in terms of reportage, in terms of giving information about crime and criminality, people have helped us in doing what we are doing”, he said. 

He described as disturbing the casualty figures of policemen who lost their lives in the wake of the Boko Haram Islamic sect’s attacks on security personnel and bombings in northern parts of the country, noting that the figures of victims are still being computed by the authorities.

According to him, crisis is not a thing that the police and the citizens plan for or expect, stressing that five years ago nobody expected that Nigeria would be facing the problem of suicide bombings in any part of the country.

CLASH OVER A PROSTITUE LEAVES 3 DEAD AND PROPERTIES WORTH MILLIONS OF NAIRA DESTROYED!

In what inhabitants tagged a Hausa and Yoruba clash in Ibese, Yewa North Local Government of Ogun State on Wednesday three lives and left properties worth millions of Naira burnt or vandalised.

The clash started on Wednesday night following a disagreement between two unidentified men over a prostitute...it escalated and later took an ethnic dimension with about bout 25 articulated vehicles, three cars and five motorcycles were said to have been destroyed in the violence. Also, almost all the shops in the nearby market were reportedly looted.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the incident, but said no one was killed. Adejobi, an assistant superintendent of police however said the violence in the town had nothing to do with ethnicity.

He said,

“It was caused by a prostitute and some of the drivers had a problem with some men who claimed to be Ibese indigenes. There was no ethnic colouration. There was no casualty and only 14 vehicles were burnt.”

Residents of the busy town were said to have fled the community.

Armed policemen were deployed in the troubled town to forestall further break down of law and order while an Armoured Personnel Carrier was seen stationed in front of the Dangote Cement Factory located within the community.

The Chairman of the task force in the affected market, Sikirulah Akinsola, confirmed to newsmen that the violence erupted due to a disagreement between two persons over a commercial sex worker.

Akinsola, who is also the Bada Orile of Ijako Village, a suburb of the town, said more than 200 persons of Yoruba extraction who felt aggrieved by the alleged killing of their kinsman had decided to demonstrate on the streets when the crisis erupted.

According to him, one Kehinde had also allegedly been killed last May by a suspected Hausa man in the town...We pray this kind of destruction does not repeat itself again...over a prostitute for that matter.

To see if you have the virus, you can head to any number of checker Web sites such as the DNS Changer Working Group or theFBI itself to either enter your IP address or simply click a button to run a check against addresses known to have problems. With any luck, you’ll be free and clear and won’t have to worry about the problem any further.

If you are infected with the virus, then you’ve got a longer — but not impossible — process ahead of you. According to the DCWG, those infected with the virus should first back up any important files. You can do that fairly easily with an external hard drive or even a thumb drive.

From there, you can run one of several trusted tools to get rid of the virus. Again, the DCWG has a list of them on its site, which includes programs such as Microsoft Windows Defender Off line, Norton Power Eraser and MacScan, all of which have updated their definitions to include this particular virus.

LONDON 2012 OLYMPIC BASKETBALL QUALIFIER - NIGERIA MAKES A SURPRISE QUARTER FINAL QUALIFICATION!

12 national teams are competing for the three slots at the OLYMPIC qualifiers for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The three qualifiers would join the nine countries that had already qualified for the 12-nations Men’s Basketball Olympic Games at the 2012 Olympic.

Nigeria's Male Basketball team D’Tigers in group B, on Wednesday defeated fifth ranked Lithuania 86-80, but had earlier lost its first match 69-71 to host country Venezuela. D’Tigers, the male’s national team, would on Friday meet Greece in the quarterfinals to get to the semifinals.

Nigeria and Angola were the only two African countries qualified from Africa for the world qualifiers which began on July 2 and scheduled to end on July 8.

Alabi Adelanwa, a former National Player, expressed confidence that D’Tigers would not only qualified for the Olympics, but would also be a team to watch at the Games if they eventually qualified.

“I am very positive about our qualification because our boys had gone through adequate training and friendly matches,” Adelanwa said.

ARSENAL POSTPONES TRIP TO NIGERIA!

Arsenal's marketing director Angus Kinnear said in a statement: 

"Bringing a top-level club to an international market is always complicated and logistically challenging.

"With the proposed match in Nigeria planned for early August, we could not get comfortable on everything needed to satisfy our requirements, so we have reluctantly taken the decision to postpone the team's visit."

Kinnear continued: 

"We have a huge and loyal following in Africa, and we are sorry that the team will not be visiting this summer.

"However, we have a long-term commitment to Nigeria and we are already making plans for a visit next summer.

"In addition, we also have some exciting forthcoming activities planned with our commercial partners in Nigeria - Emirates, Airtel and Malta Guinness, which will kick off in the next few weeks."

Arsenal are set to tour Asia later this month, with a fixture against Manchester City set for Beijing's Bird's Nest Stadium on July 27.

LIFEGUARD FIRED FOR SAVING DROWNING MAN!!!

A Lifeguard Tomas Lopez's been fired for saving a drowning man.

Why? He left the section of a south Florida beach his company is paid to patrol. 

Lopez was on duty Monday at Hallandale Beach when a beachgoer asked for help. Lopez said he ran to assist a man struggling in the water south of his post.

By the time Lopez arrived, witnesses had pulled the drowning man out of the water. Lopez and an off-duty nurse helped him until paramedics arrived. The victim survived and was hospitalized.

For that, Lopez was fired.

Two other lifeguards have quit in protest.

On their part, his employesr the Orlando-based company, Jeff Ellis and Associates, says Lopez broke a company rule and could have put beachgoers in his section in jeopardy.

In an apparent departure from past wasteful spendings, President Goodluck Jonathan has banned official delegation to the 2012 Olympics in London.

Sports Minister, Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed this on Wednesday at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan today.

Bolaji said: 

"This is to ensure that we have value for what are doing. Any governor or top government officials outside of the participating teams seen at the London Olympics will certainly not have travelled on federal government ticket.

“What I can assure you for a start is that there is not going to be any official Nigerian delegation to this Olympic. So this is the first time in a long while that I know that you will not have an official Nigerian delegation to the Olympics, a global event like this. 

"I want to also add that it is not always the case that there is anything wrong in officials being more than the athletes, for example you have only one boxer, that boxer must have a physiotherapist, a doctor, a coach, and even a psychologist in some cases.

" If you look at the American contingent, it is almost  like the contingents of many of the countries put together. What we are doing is that we are taking all reasonable measures to ensure that every single person that is going to the Olympics have a business in the Olympics. Of course Olympics is a public event and if you find a state governor in London, it doesn't mean that we are sponsoring him to be there, so he has the wherewithal to go by himself to go and watch  the Olympics. 

"But what I can assure you is that there is no official Nigerian delegation to the Olympics and that itself is a major one in ensuring that we have value for what we are doing," the minister concluded.

Babara Winfrey, Oprah Winfrey's stepmom claims Oprah has used her fortune to take control of the family's barber shop Vernon Winfrey( Oprah's dad) has run for more than 50 years.

So now that 78-year-old Vernon has filed for divorce based on the ownership of the barbershop threatens to tear apart the Winfrey family apart.

Oprah paid $475,000 for the store in Nashville, Tennessee, when it was up for auction last week. the store had earlier gone into foreclosure.

Barbara Winfrey said the purchase means that Oprah, has gained control of the business and cut her out.

‘I know what is going on. I'm tired of it, and I've had enough,’ Barbara Winfrey told WSMV TV in Nashville.

‘People are giving him wrong advice, and it's leaving me in a situation where all I can do is fight for me.’

‘There is no reason for it to go into foreclosure like this. The property is upside down, which is what a lot of properties are. It cost us $481,000 to build this building, but it's only worth $350,000.’

On Oprah controlling her husband, she said:

‘He believes what he's told. His daughter doesn't care about the community. His daughter doesn't care about the barbershop. But I do.’

Barbara and her 78-year-old husband opened the barber shop a year ago to replace a store at a nearby location.

But the couple apparently fell behind on their mortgage payments and the red brick building went into foreclosure.

Barbara said she wanted to borrow more money from a bank but that on advice from his famous daughter Vernon refused to take out a loan.

Oprah's dad, Vernon said: 

‘My wife and I, we have not been getting along well, and I did not want to endow myself to another drawn-out, struggling debt.’

At the opening of the new barber shop Vernon said the premises would be his legacy to the community.

‘When I'm gone, I'm glad I'll be able to say I left the neighborhood looking nice,’ Winfrey said.

He said his daughter had urged him to give up cutting hair, but he planned to continue.

‘Some folks say, “Winfrey, you're kind of old to be doing it.” I say, “You're right, but I feel good,”’ he said.

Vernon said his famous daughter wanted him to retire.

In response to the accusations Oprah's spokesperson said: 

‘Oprah purchased the property that was in foreclosure.

‘Vernon Winfrey has been a fixture in the community for decades and will continue to manage the business on a day-to-day basis.’

Barbara said that her husband has since filed for divorce and believes he does not understand the decisions he is making.
