"SCOTT PARKER IS FIT TO FACE BELGIUM" - ENGLAND COACH, HOGSON.
England coach, Hogson said this about Scott Parker's fitness:
"He'll be getting fitter by the day, as will Wayne Rooney, and we're quite happy that by the time we play France people will be in good physical shape."
England manager Roy Hodgson has allayed fears about the fitness of Scott Parker and says the three lions squad will all be in good shape for their opening Euro 2012 fixture against France.
Having already seen Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry sidelined by injury, England can not afford to lose another midfielder but Hodgson has eased concerns about Parker.
There had been serious doubts about the 31-year-old's form heading into the Euros after he missed Tottenham's final four games with an Achilles injury.
Today, Hogson said: "No, not particularly, no more so than the obvious one that we were going to have, that when he came to join us having not played for Tottenham in the last two or three matches in the league.
"So that was obviously going to be a factor, but we also knew we had lots of training time and now in the two weeks we've been training he's taken part in every training session and he's also played 60 minutes already and he's available to play tomorrow.
"So he'll be getting fitter by the day, as will Wayne Rooney, and we're quite happy that by the time we play France people will be in good physical shape."
The problems in England's midfield have seen Jordan Henderson called up from the standby list, and Hodgson remains confident in the options at his disposal.
"I'm satisfied with the group we've put together, I believe in the group," he said.
"I'm disappointed to have lost two senior players, but on the other hand it's a great opportunity for someone else.pens for someone else."
Asked about why Manchester United's Michael Carrick was not pursued more vigorously for a place in either the squad or on the original standby list, he said: "The contacts with Michael were actually conducted before I took the job.
"It was made clear to me that he wasn't a player who wanted to be considered, so quite frankly he wasn't a player I did consider.
"He's a player that I've always admired, of course, and, who knows, in the future if these type of injuries continue, he might have a very important part to play."
Looking ahead to the opening Group D match against France on June 11, Hodgson said he was optimistic that his team could bring an end to Les Bleus' good run.
France's 2-0 win over Serbia yesterday extended their unbeaten sequence to 20 games under coach Laurent Blanc, and Hodgson said: "England-France has always been a very important fixture.
"The French seem to think it will be the key match in the group, but you never know that until the group gets going.
"We're looking forward to it and we know it won't be easy.
"The French are on a fantastic unbeaten run, but all runs have got to end sometime and we hope we're the ones that will bring that run to an end."
Tomorrow's friendly against Belgium will be notable for its use of a Hawk-Eye goal-line system, and Hodgson said he welcomed the opportunity to explore a technology that has long been in demand.
"I don't think there are too many people who have objections to goal-line technology," he said.
"I side with all my colleagues on that one. It's an advance, and one which I hope will prove successful and at least banish some of the ghosts of the past."
Looking ahead to the game against a Belgium team boasting the talents of the Premier League-bound Eden Hazard, he added: "The Belgians are a very good team.
"This is Wembley, there's 90,000 people, so we have to accept that whatever team we play they are going to pull out all the stops to beat us."
PRESIDENT HOSNI MUBARAK SUFFERS HEART ATTACK AFTER LIFE SENTENCE - HOSPITALIZED!
EGYPT'S former president, Hosni Mubarak, has reportedly suffered a heart attack while being flown to jail after being sentenced to life imprisonment for complicity in the killing of protesters during last year's uprising that forced him from power.
Egyptian state media reported the ''health crisis'' occurred as he was being taken by helicopter to Torah prison hospital.
Habib al-Adli, Mubarak's minister of the interior, was alwas also jailed for life but Mubarak's sons Gamal and Alaa were
People at the court in Cairo reacted angrily to the acquittal of Mubarak's sons and a series of Interior Ministry officials and police chiefs.
The crowd chanted, ''False judgment. The people want to clean the judicial system.
'' Fights broke out inside and stones were thrown at riot police outside the court."
Lawyers inside the courtroom were furious over the acquittals and said they feared that Mubarak and Adli would be found innocent on appeal.
Mubarak, 84, is the first Arab leader to be tried by his own people but he can still appeal against his sentence.
Outside, there were celebrations, with many chanting ''God is greatest''.
Soha Saeed, the wife of one of those killed in the uprising that toppled Mubarak on February 11, 2011, shouted: ''I'm so happy. I'm so happy.''
Mubarak arrived at the court building by helicopter and was then wheeled into court on a hospital stretcher, wearing sunglasses and looking frail. Protesters outside the building shouted: ''Enough talk, we want execution.''
''I want nothing less than the death penalty for Mubarak. Anything less and we will not be silent and the revolution will break out again,'' said Hanafi el-Sayed, whose 27-year-old son was killed in the first days of the uprising in January last year.
Judge Ahmed Refaat insisted the 10-month trial had been fair, and said Egyptian people had suffered 30 years of darkness under Mubarak's rule.
Mubarak had faced a possible death sentence over the killing of about 850 protesters by security forces last year.
Despite their acquittal, Alaa and Gamal Mubarak are to remain in detention. On Wednesday, prosecutors said they would go on trial with seven others on charges of stockmarket manipulation.
The trial itself has often been chaotic. Outside the court, Mubarak's supporters and his opponents have often clashed.
''Day of the verdict for the pharaoh,'' wrote the al-Watan newspaper in a front-page headline, a reference to Mubarak who was often called a modern version of Egypt's ancient rulers.
Hundreds of police with riot shields and batons surrounded the police academy where the trial has been held.
Few Egyptians expected Mubarak would go to the gallows, even if some think that is what he deserves. Protesters have often hung his effigy from lampposts since he was ousted.
But the ruling could not come at a more sensitive time for Egypt, right in the middle of a fraught presidential election that pits a figure from the Muslim Brotherhood, banned under Mubarak, against the deposed leader's last prime minister, Ahmed Shafiq.
On Friday, protesters returned to Tahrir Square in Cairo, the focal point of the demonstrations last year, to show their opposition to Shafiq.
Egyptians saw Mubarak as they had never seen him before when his trial opened on August 3, about six months after he was ousted. He was wheeled into the court on a hospital trolley as on each of his court appearances since.
He has rarely spoken except to declare his presence and deny the charges, including accusations that he was behind brutal police tactics used to quell mass protests against his rule.

WELCOME *TRUVADA* THE DRUG THAT CURES HIV?
June 15, 2012 may bring a victory in the long war against the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), which causes AIDS. A drug called Truvada already treats the disease. By June 15th American regulators are expected to approve its use to prevent the transmission of HIV, too.
The past 30 years have produced several triumphs. A flood of money has helped scientists to invent new drugs and health workers to deliver them to those in need. These drugs have transformed a fatal disease into a chronic one. They have also made HIV a big business.
If the process for developing HIV drugs has been unusual, selling them has been even more so. America is the rich world’s biggest market, with 841,000 patients diagnosed—ten times as many as in Britain. More than 60% of HIV drugs in America are bought with public money. Insurers give HIV special treatment: patients are rarely pressed to buy the cheapest pills, as they might be if they had another disease.
Distributing drugs in poor countries is harder. A decade ago, hardly any poor people could afford them. At first, drugs firms handled this badly. In 1998, 39 big Western firms sued South Africa to protect their HIV patents. Global uproar ensued; the firms backed down in 2001.
Then two things changed. First, rich countries started donating vast sums to fight AIDS in poor ones. In 2000 there was less than $2 billion for HIV programmes each year; by 2010 there was $15 billion, thanks to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and George Bush junior’s President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
Second, the price of AIDS drugs plunged. In May 2000 a year’s “triple cocktail” therapy cost $10,000 or so. By 2011 the same pills sold for $62 in poor countries. PEPFAR cash buys generic versions of patented drugs, which may be supplied only to poor countries. Last year two drugmakers won most of PEPFAR’s contracts: Aurobindo, an Indian firm, and Matrix, an Indian firm acquired in 2007 by Mylan, an American one. PEPFAR’s bidding system keeps margins slim even by the standards of the generics industry, says Rajiv Malik, the president of Mylan. But volumes are huge.
Can treatment expand further? Despite the subsidies and the plunge in prices, less than half of those infected with HIV take HIV drugs. Those who do, however, live a long time, and they have to keep taking the pills. What’s more, new studies show that it helps to start treating patients early, so demand is sure to rise.
Alas, aid dipped in 2009 and 2010, thanks to the financial crisis. To make matters more complicated, there is a trade-off between more drugs and better ones. Most patients in poor countries get outdated pills, according to Médecins Sans Frontières. Allowing generics firms to copy yet more patented drugs might help. Since 2006 Gilead has licensed drugs to generics firms for 5% royalties. Last year it went further, agreeing to license drugs to a “patent pool” to centralise royalty deals for a range of firms. So far, however, Gilead is the only Western company to join.
Even in rich countries, public willingness to pay for the best drugs may be waning. Express Scripts manages drug costs for American employers. With Gilead’s expensive Quad poised to enter the market, employers have started asking Steve Miller, the chief medical officer, to contain HIV costs, possibly by nudging patients towards cheaper drugs.
There are two distinct HIV markets. In rich countries, many good treatments jostle for market share. The best will generate fat profits, since patients have to take their pills every day. But Datamonitor predicts that growth will slow after 2017, as many drugs lose patent protection and prices crash. In poor countries, by contrast, Big Pharma makes very little money but the most efficient copycats thrive. Meanwhile, the world still waits for a cure.

US MILITARY SAYS NO TO WOMEN SOLDIERS BREASTFEEDING IN MILITARY UNIFORMS
Terran Echegoyen-McCabe and Christina Luna are the two mothers depicted nursing their children while wearing their National Guard uniforms. Echegoyen-McCabe says she breast feeds her twin girls on lunch breaks when she’s on duty. As a member of the Air National Guard, she does her best to fulfill her commitment to her country without sacrificing her commitment to her 10-month-old children.
“I have breast fed in our lobby, in my car, in the park… I pump, usually in the locker room,” says Echegoyen-McCabe. “I’m proud to be wearing a uniform while breastfeeding. I’m proud of the photo and I hope it encourages other women to know they can breast feed whether they’re active duty, guard or civlian.
There isn't a policy saying we can or cannot breast-feed in uniform. I think it's something that every military mom who is breast-feeding has done.”
But, Military officials said it was a breach of the rules to use the uniform to promote non-military causes.
National Guard spokesman Captain Keith Kosik told the BBC that there was no regulation against breast-feeding in uniform.
But he said the National Guard took issue with the uniform being used "by an outside entity for a cause", regardless if it was a positive one.
Capt Kosik said the women were unlikely to face disciplinary action.
MALAWI'S NEW PRESIDENT (JOYCE BANDA) SELLS OFF PRESIDENTIAL JET AND 60 MERCEDES!!!!
Malawi's new president(Joyce Banda), has announced that the presidential jet and fleet of 60 Mercedes limousines would be sold in a move applauded by a British cabinet minister as an example to other African leaders.
Hear her,
I am happy to "offload" the presidential perks, adding: "I can well use private airlines. I am already used to hitchhiking."
I am happy to "offload" the presidential perks, adding: "I can well use private airlines. I am already used to hitchhiking."
It means that the 62-year-old second woman head of state in Africa will fly to the Queen's Jubilee celebrations in London this weekend with British Airways.
Andrew Mitchell, the UK International Development Secretary who is currently visiting Malawi, delivered a £33m cash injection for Mrs Banda's government.
He said the move was a sign of the "seriousness Mrs Banda is applying to overturn bad decisions taken under the previous government".
The former vice-president in Bingu wa Mutharika's government, stepped into the presidency in April when he suffered a heart attack. The jet had annual running costs of £220,000.
Since then, she has sacked former members of the "old guard" in the cabinet and security services, brought back Malawi's old flag and pledged to lift the country's ban on homosexuality.
Most recently, she followed long-standing International Monetary Fund advice to devalue Malawi's currency by a third.
The move caused panic buying and a sharp rise in the prices of basic foods and fuel.
But her decisions have seen donors including Britain, the EU, Germany, Norway and the World Bank, re-establish warm relations with Malawi.
Mr Mitchell announced that Britain, Malawi's biggest bilateral aid donor, would send a Bank of England expert to help stabilise the currency, and handed £23 million to the Finance Ministry.
He noted,
"The importance of an African leader giving up the jets and Mercedes is iconic,"
"The importance of an African leader giving up the jets and Mercedes is iconic,"
"There are millions of people in need of drugs. I went to a hospital and saw people who were clearly ill queueing for drugs that were not there.
"We are making £10 million available for Malawi to stock up, and extra funding for agriculture, education and health to reinforce the work of this very good president."
Steve Sharra, a prominent Malawian blogger, said that Mrs Banda's actions were broadly welcomed by her countrymen.
Critics joked, however, that Malawi was transforming from a "God-fearing country" to a "donor-fearing country".
"The currency devaluation has been hard but I think most people understood why it had to happen and she is enjoying extraordinary amounts of goodwill and trust among Malawians," he said.
"All presidents start out well and we will have to see how she behaves after she is re-elected but for me, what's important is that she consults before taking decisions. With President Mutharika, it was his way or the highway."
The former president's profligacy provoked a Whitehall decision to suspend aid to Malawi last year.
In 2010, he was accused of using £2 million of public money to build new roads to travel in comfort to his second wedding.
The same year, he unveiled a multi-million dollar Taj Mahal-style mausoleum in memory of his late wife Ethel.
Mr Mutharika had defended the purchase of the jet as a "must" for a national leader in 2009.
"The jet that I purchased is not mine. It belongs to the nation," he claimed. "It will be used by 10, 11 other people coming after me. So that's an asset."
NO TICKET, NO COURT SIDE SEAT! - OKC TELLS LIL WAYNE
Here's Lil wayne's Thursday night tweet.
Was going to go to the Thunder game tonight but was denied by the team to be in their arena. Wow. Smh. Go Spurs!
He also said that, Thunder officials denied giving Lil Wayne an escort into the building. According to Mack, that defied common sense.
"Why would you actually want to cause pandemonium? That's gonna make it harder for your security."
The Thunder said Lil Wayne like every other fan/visitor
"is welcome to attend a playoff game in Oklahoma City, but needs to buy a ticket just like everyone else."
Lil Wayne had created a scene on thursday night by when he tweeted
"I was going to go to the Thunder game tonight but was denied by the team to be in their arena."
And Wayne finished off his tweet by saying "Go Spurs!"
Thunder spokesperson(Don Mahoney) said Lil Wayne's representatives did contact the team requesting tickets but insisted that he sit on the front row, and none of those seats was available. Oklahoma City sold out every home game during the regular season and playoffs this season.
Mahoney went on further to say:
"We'd love to have him at a game, but like anyone else, he needs a ticket."
SEND US RECALL LETTERS LIKE YOU SENT DISMISSAL LETTERS, ELSE? - LAGOS DOCTORS TELL FASHOLA
After the intervention of Tinubu in the impasse between the lagos state govt and medical doctors on strike which led to their sack by the state govt, Governor Fashola announced that their sack had been rescinded and like Tinubu, asked the Lagos Doctors to go back to their duty posts. The doctors refused saying unless certain conditions were met, they would not do so.
The Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Edamisan Temiye, said the latest development would determine the next line of action by the NMA.
Temiye, who briefed journalists 1st of June 2012, alleged that the government did not communicate with the Medical Guild or affected doctors directly as required by rules of the civil service.
He noted: “Since the government has indicated that it was responding to the intervention of stakeholders who made unambiguous calls for the full reinstatement of the doctors, we believe that it ought to have made it clear that the reinstatement is complete and would be without any reprisals.”
“We are looking for concrete evidence. So when we have concrete evidence, we will take action from there. The doctors were sacked with written letters sent to each of them. Those letters should be retrieved in writing. That is one way of doing it and the government needs to reaffirm the agreement they have reached with us on the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS).

ASHTON AND DEMI MOORE WERE NEVER 'ACTUALLY' MARRIED?

| The couple when they got married |
Radar Online published that, friends of the couple think they know the REAL reason. A source tells them:
"There has been speculation for a while that Demi and Ashton were never actually legally married and that's why they haven't filed divorce papers yet. Some people think that they were just married in a symbolic Kabbalah ceremony and that they never actually filed paperwork to make it legal."
The media outlet went on further to say:
We just pray this couple sort out their differences in the interest of both parties."Demi was adamant about splitting with Ashton and everyone thought it would happen at the end of the year. Then when she went into rehab no one expected her to file. But now that she's out and doing better some people around her are surprised that she hasn't taken the steps to end the marriage. They're wondering if the reason they haven't filed divorce papers is because there aren't any to file."
