Even With Brexit Referendum, Britain May Not Leave EU - Referendum Isn't a Legal Requirement to Leave!

The outcome of the referendum asking Britain to leave the EU notwithstanding Britain may choose not to leave. Why? The Referendum itself is just advisory and not legally binding. 51.9% of Brits might have voted to leave, but the only legal opportunity to leave derives its powers from Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon, the EU legislation governing a potential breakup. Why Prime Minister David Cameron, who led the Remain campaign, repeatedly said that a Leave victory would automatically result in the triggering of Article 50, we don't know (maybe to win votes for a stay), his utterance is more theoretical than practical. The only challenge is can the govt of Britain choose to ignore the advice of 51.9% of Britons?
