POPE APPOINTS ARCHBISHOP OF JOS, NIGERIA TO VATICAN POST



In order to counter growing secularism in two troubled regions of the catholic church, Pope Benedict XVI has appointed Lebanese and Nigerian clergymen to a Vatican Council.
Benedict created The pontifical council for new evangelisation was created by Pope benedict XVI in 2010.
The Vatican said, the Archbishop of Jos in central Nigeria, Ignatius Ayau Kaigama and the Archbishop of Beirut of the Maronites, Paul Youssef Matar would be joining the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization.
Despite the raging conflict in Syria, which has also raised tensions within Lebanon, the pope is expected to visit Beirut on September 14-16 with a message calling for peaceful coexistence between religions in the region.
Christian and Muslims have been killing themselves in thousands, using religion as eexcuse for the massacres.
A suicide attack on a Catholic church in March in which a lot of people inlcluding wrshippers lost their lives.
